All It Takes
"This is A Trusted Space" English
We know the last few years have been difficult for our school-aged children. And, right now our school communities need positive, evidenced-based, easily accessible mental health and wellness to help our children. All It Takes wants to help make everyone aware of how to obtain access to these valuable resources in California.
To get the word out to all Californians, All It Takes has launched a new public service announcement (PSA) campaign, as part of the CalHOPE Schools Initiative in partnership with the California Department of Health Care Services with three primary goals:
1. Inform the general public that California schools are dedicated to supporting student well-being.
2. To recognize and appreciate the influence and impact of custodians, cafeteria workers, bus drivers, and others have on our students in the education ecosystem. We are all in this together.
3. A call to action/reminder for those who work in education that they are a vital part of the solution to the mental health epidemic our students are facing in the wake of COVID-19.
This PSA campaign will serve as a reminder for every person in the California education ecosystem to embrace their powerful role in fostering healing and resilience in our youth who are struggling with mental health concerns at increasing rates.
Every school employee, whether a bus driver or a principal, has the opportunity to create “A Trusted Space” by establishing trust and building authentic, positive relationships with students. Scientific research is clear and united: trusted relationships are the number one antidote to stress and trauma. Across education, teachers and administrators are given this message, but there are so many others who influence our kids every day, and it’s time to bring them into the conversation. Students heal and thrive in environments where they can trust that when they turn to an adult in their school – whether their teacher, an administrator, a yard supervisor, or their bus driver and to ensure that all these adults have the skill set to model and guide children towards positive, compassionate solutions.
The mental wellness of our youth is vital for them to be resilient through difficult times. Hope lives here in California!
