All It Takes is a non-profit organization that equips youth with essential emotional intelligence skills to successfully navigate their lives and support their communities.
Our work cultivates safer schools and communities through experiential social-emotional learning methodology. We teach young people at critical life stages to practice empathy, compassion, initiative, responsibility, and purpose in order to create sustainable, positive outcomes.
All It Takes is an organization founded by transformation trainer, Lori Woodley and actress Shailene Woodley. We see a world with people who have what it takes to be leaders both in their own lives and for others. Leaders who, through purposeful and compassionate action, make positive changes in their schools, communities and, ultimately, our world. We see a world where all people are empowered with the tools, confidence and awareness they need to inspire sustainable forward momentum that matters most to them.
And here’s how we do it:

All It Takes was founded in 2010 by Lori and Shailene as a global call to action. We believe that each of us has a responsibility to humanity and our planet to be a part of sustainable positive change and that happiness comes from participating in ways we are individually passionate about.
Lori is a public speaker, trainer and author supporting youth and Youth Influencers everywhere. Focused on Social Emotional Learning, SEL, (also called emotional intelligence), communication, experiential education, and social impact, Lori’ trains educators, parents and Youth Influencers everywhere while also working directly with youth and training trainers to do the same.
Lori is co-founder and CEO of All It Takes, a non-profit organization that equips youth to navigate their lives and support their communities through SEL development and experiential methodology. Teaching from her Notice Choose Act framework, Lori empowers youth to adults to discover and embrace their power to be purposeful catalysts for positive outcomes.
Earning her Masters degree in Educational Psychology, Lori spent 25 years as a K-8 school counselor. Through those years, she also navigated being a mother and the varied complexities of the entertainment industry as interest in her daughters’, (Shailene Woodley, co-founder of All It Takes in 2010), talent rose.
As a counselor, Lori recognized the compelling need for youth to deepen their ability to access emotional intelligence traits (resiliency, empathy, accountability, independent thinking and decision making…) and actively engage in purposeful thought followed by action in order to reduce risk factors. These factors include: disengagement, bullying, entitlement, drug use, increased mood disorders and suicide.
Lori’s trainings target social-emotional health and how youth see themselves, individually and as a part of a larger collective. With support from the adults in their life, youth learn to recognize their authentic value, direct impact, and their ability to be in control of their emotional reactions, youth become confident, empathetic, purpose driven catalysts who can thrive; socially, emotionally and academically.
